Week 9 - Preparing for Submissions
Thesis
Perpetuation of Light in Architectural Modelling
The agency conveyed by light in the world of architectural modelling forms the fundamental basis for a means of communication between the model and audiences. Light and its variations operate as a vehicle to facilitate for the discrimination between shapes, contours and details; communicating information to audiences. This is established through my disparate use of lighting conditions in the photographing of architectural models, where an abundance of light produced considerable feedback, shadows, while an absence diminished feedback. In this manner, significant feedback allowed for a clear delineation between facets, details and contours while a deficiency obscured this information. As such, through an assessment of the modelled images, the potential for light to function as a means for communication is validated.

Week 8 - Rendering Materials
Fusion 360 Rendering
Rendering Materials in Photoshop
| Outside material is polished gold, inside is platinum and ends are titanium oxide; rendered in a cool lit environment. |
| I chose the three most expensive materials because i know i will never be able to afford them :( |

Floor Plan
| Floor plan of my workspace |
![]() | |
|
- easy to cut with minimal pressure
- sharp edges and creases can be made easily via folding
- material is flimsy so a smaller scale is required
Cardboard
|
![]() |
| My workspace (1:50) |
- corrugation makes it harder to cut
- edges when cut appear rougher, not as clean as paper
- larger scale needs to be used to allow for folding
Ideal Workspace
| Initial plan of ideal workspace |
| Ideal workspace |
- medium used is 125gsm paper, more rigid than standard printing paper allowing for slightly larger scale without deformations
- still able to produce clean cuts with minimal pressure
- folds and creases can still be formed easily
